DURHAM-born musician, songwriter and record producer Trevor Horn has been recognised for his work.
The 64-year-old, who grew up in Houghton-le-Spring and attended Durham’s Johnston Grammar School, received the Outstanding Contribution to UK Music award at the Music Producers Guild (MPG) Awards in London on Thursday (February 13) night.
Mr Horn is regarded as one of the most influential producers of the last 30 years and has worked on hits for artists such as ABC, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Grace Jones and Robbie Williams.
He was part of the group Buggles and co-write their 1979 number one single Video Killed the Radio Star.
He also joined the progressive rock group Yes for a brief period in the early 1980s An awards spokesman said: “The award he received from the MPG acknowledges those who have made a significant contribution over a long period of time to the success of the UK music recording industry.”
