A LONG serving healthcare assistant praised the patients and staff she has worked with in her 40 years at a doctors’ surgery.
Glynis Eddy, 61, started work as receptionist in 1974 at St Andrew’s Medical Practice, at Adan House, in Spennymoor.
Then 14 years ago she changed roles to become a healthcare assistant at the surgery.
Staff at the surgery marked Mrs Eddy’s 40th anniversary with a special presentation this week.
Mrs Eddy, of Spennymoor, said: “I didn’t expect to be here for 40 years. I’ve enjoyed working here and the people of Spennymoor have been lovely.
“I’ve seen some changes over the years and I have got on well with the patients and staff. I’m proud of what I have achieved.”
Dr Tony Long, senior partner at the surgery, said: “It’s really quite an achievement and she is the longest serving member of our staff ever.
“It’s been a long time but I think everyone will agree that Glynis has always been cheerful, loyal and a hard worker.”
