HOUSING tenants have learnt vital skills at a session to help them get on-line and now more workshops are planned to enable even more people to get up to speed.
The Time to get online project sees interactive workshops take place in a range of community venues across County Durham to show tenants how to access the internet and the benefits of getting online.
The launch event took place last month at East Durham Homes’ head office in Peterlee. The next sessions are being run by Durham County Council in partnership with Dale & Valley Homes.

Fran Cunningham, of Peterlee, said: “I can see now there’s lots of benefits to going online and I’d really like to continue to use a computer.”
People who attend the event receive a resource pack with information about how they can continue to learn, public access points and where to go to get the best deals on purchasing equipment and broadband.
The next sessions take place from this week week in the south of the county, with more events planned planned throughout the spring in East Durham, Durham City, Teesdale and Derwentside.
A session will be held at Hutchinson Library, Bishop Auckland Town Hall from 2pm to 5pm on Wednesday (February 12) and at the Willington Community Action Centre from 2pm to 5pm on Thursday (February 13).
