FIREFIGHTERS are holding a rally to protest about planned cuts by Cleveland fire Brigade.

Speakers at next weekend’s rally will include Fire Brigade Union president Alan McLean, MP for Middlesbrough Andy McDonald and MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, Tom Blenkinsop.

The firefighters are being supported by members of the Teesside People's Assembly Against Austerity.

A spokesman for the group claimed: "The reduced service will represent a significantly increased risk to public and firefighters alike.

“Please come along and show your support for this vital public service and the excellent work being done by our firefighters.”

The rally is being held on Saturday, February 8 at 1.30pm by the Bottle of Notes sculpture in Centre Square, Middlesbrough.
