PEOPLE living with brain injury are invited to a free social event on Tuesday (February 4).

Headway Darlington hosts regular sessions on the first Tuesday of every month for people living with brain injury, and their families and carers, to meet others in a safe and friendly environment.

There will be group discussions, interactive games and activities, as well as educational sessions to help people understand and cope with the effects of brain injury. Light refreshments will be served.

The session takes place on Tuesday 4 February from 1pm to 3pm at Darlington Fire Station, St. Cuthbert’s Way, DL1 5LN.

KNITTING NEWS: Darlington library, in Crown Street, is celebrating the history of Patons and Baldwins, with a display in the Centre for Local Studies. To continue the knitting theme, a knitting group to be held in the lending library each Monday from 10am to noon. Led by textile artist Becky Sunter, the Knitting Circle is open to all knitters, whatever their ability. The first meeting will take place on Monday, February 10. There is no need to book, just call in. She will lead a one-off event to teach children to knit, during half term. Knitting for Fun is for children aged eight and over and will take place on Tuesday, February 18, from 10.30am to 11.30am, in the library. Booking is essential for this free event. ROAD WORKS: Multi-way signals will be in place in Brinkburn Road, at the junction with Darrowby Drive, between February 10 and 14, to allow BT to install services to a new development. Meanwhile, footpath refurbishment works at Brankin Road and Claremont Road are progressing, with traffic restrictions due to be lifted on February 14.

COUNCILS MEET: Neasham Parish Council meets at 7pm on Monday (February 3). Sadberge Parish Council meets at 6.30pm the following day. Hurworth Parish Council meets at 7pm on Thursday. At borough level, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet is also meeting this week, at 5pm on Tuesday, at the Town Hall.
