NINE young ballerinas enjoyed spending a few hours learning from some of their idols.

Students from the Tiffany School of Dance, Darlington, had the opportunity to join the Russian State Ballet of Siberia in a warm-up prior to the company’s first performance at the town’s Civic Theatre.

The excited group were invited by the company so that they could experience first-hand what it’s like to be part of a professional dance ensemble.

Rachel Tiffany, head of the dance school said: “The girls are all very excited, it’s their first time with professional dancers and a whole new experience, it will be a challenge but it’s a great opportunity.”

The Russian State Ballet of Siberia, formed in 1981, is one of Russia’s leading ballet companies.

Critics say its 2013 season has only increased the international reputation of the company which is renowned for its stunning costumes and outstanding quality.

The group will be performing three distinguished ballets at the Civic until Sunday (February 2), namely Giselle, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake.
