A GOLF course groundsman’s vehicle was taken along with clubs and tools in a weekend burglary.

Police are appealing for information after the break-in at Houghton-le-Spring Golf Club, overnight from Saturday into Sunday morning (January 25 - 26).

Among items taken was a green and yellow 4x4 Gator utility vehicle, as well as a selection of golf clubs and tools.

Officers are carrying out inquiries and are particularly appealing for anyone who may have been offered similar items for sale or may know the whereabouts of the stolen goods.

Detective Sergeant Les Goodliff, of Northumbria Police, said: “As part of our investigation we’re keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone saw acting suspiciously around the area, either overnight or earlier on Saturday.

“We also want to hear from anyone who may know the whereabouts of the 4x4 Gator utility vehicle or who is offered cheap golf clubs and tools for sale.”

The break-in was at the course, off Gillas Lane, on the Houghton-le-Spring to Seaham road, between 11.43pm on Saturday (January 25) and 12.10am on Sunday (January 26).
