Police are appealing for help to find a student who has been missing for five days.

Megan Roberts, 20, was last seen at 2am on Thursday January 23 at Popworld, a bar on George Hudson Street in York city centre.

She was reported missing on Monday January 27 at 8.30am by her mother after a friend raised concerns as she had not heard from her after the night out.

Megan, originally from Wetherby, is a student at York St John university.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Nobody has heard from Megan since, which is very out of character and officers are very concerned for her safety."

She is described as being 5ft 6in tall, of medium build with long dark brown hair.

Megan was wearing a cream knee length dress with large brown and orange flowers on it and black plimsoll type shoes when last seen.

Inspector Andy Farrar, of North Yorkshire Police, said that they are becoming increasingly concerned for Megan’s safety but are currently treating her disappearance as a routine missing persons inquiry.

He said that this involved talking to friends and family and looking at CCTV in the area where she was last seen.

"Megan normally keeps in regular contact through phones, texts and social media and at this moment in time there has been no contact through these means.

"Obviously as the length of time goes on our concerns are growing. We believe Megan has got her phone with her.

“We would ask anyone with information or Megan herself to contact us to let us know she is safe.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option one and ask for the Force Control Room.
