THE family of a young North Yorkshire mother who suffered fatal injuries in a road crash in the Manchester area have paid tribute to her.

Georgina Taylor’s 13-month-old son who travelling was with her, was rescued by passers-by, who pulled him from the vehicle, after it flipped over, crashed into trees and caught fire.

Miraculously he escaped with just cuts and bruises.

Ms Taylor, 22, from Knaresborough, was driving a silver Mini Cooper when it lost control at around 8.55am on Saturday Jaunary 25, near Oldham, on the A627 southbound, close to the junction with Elk Mill shopping centre.

She was taken to hospital suffering serious head and neck injuries but died later that evening.

Her family issued a statement which said: “Georgina Lauren Taylor, known to her friends and family as George, was a loving mother, daughter and sister and leaves behind her 13-month-old son, Rory."

A fire service spokeswoman said the car had caught fire and three passing motorists used an extinguisher to put the blaze out and rescue the baby.

Firefighters cut Ms Taylor free from the wreckage and she was taken to hospital by air ambulance.

Sergeant Paul Higgins said: “This is an absolute tragedy and our thoughts are with the family of this young woman."
