POLICE are appealing for information after reports a man indecently exposed himself to an 11-year-old girl.

The girl was walking along Ranson Street, in Farringdon, Sunderland, when she passed a man whose trousers were open, at 4.25pm yesterday (Wednesday, January 22).

The man did not approach or speak to her and ran off towards Durham Road.

Neighbourhood Inspector Dave Pickett said: "An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

"The young girl was not hurt, but she was very shocked and we are asking for anyone who witnessed this incident or has seen anything suspicious in the area to contact police as soon as possible."

The suspect is described as being in his 30s or 40s, of very thin build, with wrinkles on his forehead and under his eyes.

He was wearing turned-up blue jeans, a black jacket, dark boots and a blue woollen hat. He was carrying a white mobile phone.
