The neon sign on The Bowes Museum
A NEON sculpture has been erected on the front of a North-East museum as part of a new exhibition.
The display, which has been created by British sculptor Gavin Turk, will display the world’s population – 7,201,964,238 – at the moment the neon exhibits go on show at The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, on Saturday, January 25.
The numerical illumination will be visible from as far away as the A66 for the duration of the exhibition, which will run until Monday, April 14.
The sculpture was commissioned by the museum and an online appeal raised more than £6,000 to fund it.
