A MAN that police wanted to question about an assault on Boxing Day has handed himself in.
The 22-year-old victim, from Chilton, in County Durham, suffered serious head injuries during the assault, at the Black Lion pub, in Front Street, Sedgefield.
His condition was described as life-threatening and though he remains in hospital is said to be recovering well.
Following the incident, detectives said they wanted to speak to Tyler Willmott, 26, from nearby Fishburn.
A spokesman for Durham police said: “This morning a 26-year-old Fishburn man, who police were attempting to trace in connection with the incident on Boxing Day made himself known to staff at Bishop Auckland police station.
“He was arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in custody, helping with our enquiries.
“The victim remains in hospital, but his condition has much improved and he is no longer in danger.”
