PRE-SCHOOL children enjoyed a fun-filled visit from the local fire service as a reward for earning a glowing report after an Ofsted inspection.

Lowson Street Pre-School, based within Harrogate Hill Methodist Church, received a ‘good’ rating from Ofsted, with the strong relationships between staff and the children and parents recognised by inspectors.

To celebrate the achievement, one of the parents of a child at the pre-school arranged for a fire engine to visit and teach the children about firefighters and fire safety.

Pre-school manager Michelle Vallis said: “We are always trying to cover different important topics so the other week we had a visit from the police.

“At the moment the children are really interested in firefighters so one of the parents got in touch with the local fire service. The children have been really excited for the day.”

The Ofsted report said: “Children form strong relationships with all staff and are happy and confident within the pre-school’s warm and welcoming environment.”

The pre-school missed out in an ‘outstanding’ rating due to small improvements needed in organisation.
