JAMES Lancelot, master of the choristers and Durham Cathedral organist, will perform La Nativite du Signeur, the great Christmas cycle by French 20th century composer Olivier Messiaen, at the Cathedral tomorrow (Wednesday, January 27) at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £8 or £6 for concessions, can be booked by calling 0191-334-3805. Proceeds will go to the Michael James Music Trust, set up in memory of a former Durham University organ scholar who died young and supports organ scholarships.

CHARITY RUN: Durham-based children’s charity Heel and Toe is looking for people to take part in this year’s Great North Run in aid of the cause. Registration costs £49, plus a minimum £225 sponsorship. The Tyneside half-marathon takes place on Sunday, September 7. The closing date for Heel and Toe entries is Friday, January 31.
