POLICE are investigating the theft of 4x4 vehicles from two North Yorkshire villages.

On Friday evening a Range Rover was taken from Pilmoor, north of Easingwold, following a two-in-one burglary where the thieves broke into a house and stole keys to the vehicle along with other goods.

They broke into the semi-detached home between 7.30pm and midnight and stole keys to the blue Range Rover, registration HSE TD6, along with electrical goods including a laptop, mobile and television. They then drove off in the Range Rover.

On the same evening (Friday, January 17) a green Land Rover Discovery was stolen from outside a workshop at Pickhill, near Thirsk, at about 7pm.

The vehicle, which is the older model of the Discovery and has tinted rear windows, had been left for a short time while the owner was in the building. Police say a suspicious black Land Rover Defender was seen nearby at the time of the theft.

Extensive police enquiries are currently ongoing to locate the stolen vehicle and identify the suspects.

Officers wish to hear from anyone who may have seen any of the vehicles and any people seen acting suspiciously in the area on Friday, such as door-to-door sellers.
