A CHAT ‘n’ Craft Group meets in The Hive, Station Road, Ushaw Moor, near Durham, each Thursday from 10am to noon. Visitors are welcome to take along their own craft projects and share ideas and techniques. A drink and a toasted teacake or cake is available for £1.50.
SUNDAY WALK: Durham Rambling Club will do two circular walks around Masham, North Yorkshire, on Sunday, January 26. There will be a nine-mile route via Hackfall and a 12-mile trek via Druids Temple. WOMEN’S GROUP: Alington House Women’s Group will host a talk on the British women’s movement in the 1970s by Durham University student George Stevenson on Thursday, January 23, from 11am to 1pm at Alington House community centre, 4 North Bailey, Durham. Entry costs £2 including tea or coffee.
WOOD CARVING: A wood carving class will be held at Durham Free School, Bradford Crescent, Gilesgate, Durham, on Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm starting on January 21. New members and experienced wood carvers are welcome. Tools will be provided. For more information, call 01388-832-342.
PET PLAN: The Pet Crematorium, at Langley Park Industrial Estate, near Durham, has been granted planning permission to extend its building, with two new furnaces.
