An 11-year old schoolgirl has successfully launched her own business - with a little help from her mum.

Ellie Lloyd, a final year pupil at Reid Street Primary School, in Darlington, launched her craft business, Ellie's Angels, featuring her own designs, in the run up to Christmas after taking inspiration from her mother, Vicky Lloyd, and her craft business, NEday Crafts.

After suggesting new ideas for products, Ellie started to join her mother on workshops and her entrepreneurial talent was quickly realised.

Mrs Lloyd said: “I could see how interested Ellie was in my business so encouraged her to get involved and join me on the workshops.

"She designed and made new crafts to sell and I was amazed how many people were chatting to her and buying her craft products.”

Ellie’s success at the workshops meant that over the course of the three weekends she made £100 profit and it was from here that she launched her own brand, Ellie’s Angels, as part of her mother's website.

Vicky said: “It seemed natural for her to have her own web page and develop the business.”

Despite now running her own business, Ellie is keeping up with her school work and juggling the excitement of her success with everyday life.

She said: “I love making crafts and it’s been fantastic to go out and sell them. Last year I was interviewed for Global Entrepreneurship Week and have received so many lovely words of encouragement.

"I can’t wait to do more this year.”
