FOOD lovers gobbled up 200 free pizzas within two hours when a takeaway was officially opened.
After Councillor Pauline Charlton, the Mayor of Durham, cut the ribbon at Papa John’s, in Gilesgate, Durham, at noon on Saturday (January 12), bosses gave away 200 free pizzas to waiting customers.
All went by 1.50pm.
Owner Dan Wilkinson said: “It was an honour to receive the mayor in our store and we really enjoyed celebrating our official opening event with her and our customers.”
