POLICE have arrested a teenager after the bomb disposal squad was called to a Teesside housing estate yesterday.
Homes on St George’s Road, Grangetown, near Middlesbrough, were evacuated at 10am while the bomb disposal team travelled from Catterick to inspect the package.
Police liaised with local residents and the headteacher of Grangetown Primary School to ensure their safety throughout the incident.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said this morning: "An 18-year-old local man was arrested earlier this morning in connection with an incident involving a suspect package in Grangetown yesterday."
