AN ECO-group will be hosting a lecture about climate change.

Transition Richmond Yorkshire (TRY) will welcome speaker Jon Clubb, climate change coordinator for Yorkshire, to Richmond Town Hall on Wednesday, February 5 at 7pm for his talk, Weathering the Storm.

He will propose ways not only to tackle the causes and effects of climate change, but also to find opportunities among the risks.

Sheila Pearson of TRY said: “In an ideal world, climate change wouldn’t be happening. But it is happening, and we need to consider how a small market town can adapt.”

The talk comes at the end of a successful year for TRY, during which the group won Richmondshire District Council’s Green Project of the Year award for its activities including managing, restoring and replanting half a dozen public spaces around Richmond; hosting a community fair for 15 local organisations; distributing energy-saving gadgets; running wildlife surveys and workshops with schools and members of the public; and spreading environmental messages.

Mr Clubb's talk will follow TRY’s annual general meeting at 6pm, also open to the public. The group’s 2014 priorities will be considered, and there will be a display and refreshments provided by local green groups.

There’s no need to book, and visitors are welcome to drop in at any point.
