New season of photography classes: AN award-winning photographer will be offering digital photography classes in Durham starting this month.

Philip Nixon will lead a beginners class on Monday, January 20 at 7pm, with classes for enthusiasts starting on Tuesday, January 21 and Thursday, January 23, also at 7pm.

Classes will cover theoretical and practical work on a wide range of subjects such as people, landscapes, close-up, natural history, architecture and night photography.

SOCIAL DANCE: Durham Indoor Bowling Club, at Pity Me, Durham City is to host a 50-50 dance on Saturday, January 18 starting at 8pm. Admission is £2.50 for members and £3 for non-members, payable on the door. For further information, please call 0191-384 0700.

TAI CHI: A tai chi class for beginners takes place in the Conference Hall at Houghall College, Durham City every Thursday at 7pm. All are welcome and fees are £6.
