THE unsung heroes of Ferryhill will be rewarded for their contribution to the community by an annual awards scheme.

Ferryhill Town Council and Ferryhill 2000 Committee are seeking nominations for the annual Ferryhill Civic Awards.

Residents and voluntary organisations are urged to nominate people in unpaid positions who work to improve the quality of life in Ferryhill.

This year the awards are open to youngsters deserving of praise.

Categories are care in the community, working with young people, caring for the environment and deserving young people.

Nomination forms are available from Ferryhill Town Hall and must be submitted by Friday, March 28.
