TWO public services are reopening at their new locations in Barnard Castle.
The town’s library and Durham County Council’s customer access point are relocating to new facilities, developed as part of the Witham Hall’s £3.2m renovation, led by Durham County Council, Barnard Castle Vision and The Witham Trustees.
Both services will reopen in their new headquarters next to The Witham, on Horsemarket, on Friday.
The library, which has been based at Teesdale House, closed on Saturday, December 21, and the county council customer access point, which is still based at Teesdale House, will close tomorrow (Wednesday).
Councillor Brian Stephens, cabinet member for neighbourhoods and local partnerships at Durham County Council, said: “This marks the culmination of what has been a major renovation project, which has seen this landmark Grade II listed building improved and preserved for future generations."
Library customers have been informed of the arrangements and books borrowed in the weeks leading up to the move were dated for return from Friday onwards.
Customers can renew books online at durham.gov.uk.
