A MAN was shot with a BB gun in front of his children in a “drive-by”-style shooting in a North Yorkshire resort.

The victim was hit on the head by the pellet and although his injury did not need hospital treatment he was left “very shaken up” by the incident.

The incident happened at around 10:50pm on December 27 as the man was walking along Queen’s Parade, Scarborough, with a group of people including his young children.

A small, dark blue hatchback drove past the group and the BB gun was fired from the vehicle.

Two 18-year-old men were arrested nearby a short time later but police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the hatchback travelling around Scarborough on Friday night, to contact them.

PC Gemma Johnson said: “This was a very frightening ordeal which left the victim very shocked. It is completely unacceptable behaviour and is taken very seriously by the police.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw the incident or noticed the car travelling around the town on Friday night to contact the police. Although two men have been arrested, it is very important that we speak to anyone who has information about the incident.”
