A MAN was airlifted to hospital after an accident involving two cars and a bus.

The 26-year-old suffered serious back and neck injuries after the incident at Sunnybrow, near Crook, County Durham, just before 1pm yesterday (Saturday, December 14).

The man, who has not been named, but is thought to live locally, was freed from one of the stricken cars by paramedics and firefighters.

He was given pain relief at the scene before being transported by the Great North Air Ambulance to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.

His condition is described as stable.
