A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital following a two-car collision in Teesdale in County Durham this afternoon (Saturday, December 7).
Fire crews from Barnard Castle and Middleton-in-Teesdale and a special rescue unit from Bishop Auckland were called to the accident on the A67 road between Winston and Barnard Castle shortly after 1pm.
The police, ambulance service and the Great North Air Ambulance Service were also in attendance.
One woman was trapped in the wreckage of her vehicle and was freed by firefighters, before being airlifted to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
She is believed to have suffered head and spinal injuries.
