THE Environment Agency has issued flood warnings as a major storm rages across the north of England this morning.
Wind speeds of more than 80 mph are expected in the next few hours.
The storm has already caused travel chaos for thousands of rail users.
First TransPennine Express services between Newcastle and York were cancelled from 6.11am. CrossCountry services between Edinburgh and York are experiencing delays of up to two hours.
East Coast Main Line:
Journey times will be extended Customers may travel on services immediately before or after their booked service Tickets will be valid on Friday 6 December.
These changes can also be seen in the Journey Planner Passengers will be accepted on CrossCountry services Trains between Leeds and Doncaster are being disrupted due to debris on the overhead wires near to Leeds.
These changes are expected to apply until the afternoon, but may continue depending on the weather conditions.
First TransPennine Express
These changes are expected to apply until approximately 14:00, but may continue past 14:00 depending on the weather conditions.
No trains will run between Newcastle and York apart from 06:11 Newcastle to Liverpool Lime Street which will run. Passengers can use East Coast and CrossCountry services between Newcastle and York. CrossCountry may be stopping additionally at Chester-le-Street.
No trains will run between Carlisle and Edinburgh / Scotland apart from the 05:36 and 07:42 Edinburgh to Manchester Airport services. Passengers to use Virgin Trains services between Carlisle and Scotland. Virgin Trains will be stopping additionally at Lockerbie.
All other services are planned to run as normal but may suffer delay due to the poor weather conditions Tickets will be valid on Friday 6 December.
CrossCountry
These changes are expected to apply until approximately 12:00, but may continue beyond 12:00 depending on the weather conditions.
No services will run between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central / Aberdeen Journey times between Edinburgh and York will be extended by up to 2 hours - some additional trains will run from Edinburgh to York Trains that normally start/terminate at Newcastle will start/terminate at York Mutual ticket acceptance with East Coast, Northern Rail and First TransPennine Express Trains between Leeds and Sheffield are being disrupted due to debris on the overhead wires near to Wakefield Westgate.
Northern Rail
Northern Rail plan to run a normal timetable today. However passengers should be prepared for possible delays caused by the poor weather, especially on the following routes: Darlington - Newcastle Newcastle - Morpeth and Chathill Bishop Auckland - Saltburn Middlesbrough - Hexham via Sunderland and Newcastle Carlisle - Newcastle Grand Central Grand Central plan to run a normal timetable today, however passengers should be prepared for possible delays caused by the poor weather on services to and from Sunderland.
