THE body of a missing father-of- two has been found in woods near Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland.

Police have confirmed this afternoon (Tuesday, December 3) that the dead man is Peter Jackson, 38, a professional golfer, from Seaham, County Durham.

Mr Jackson was reported missing on Monday, November 11 when he left his home for work at Castle Eden Golf Club, near Peterlee.

Since then officers from Northumbria Police and Durham Constabulary have been searching for him in the Haltwhistle area of Northumberland.

They revealed on Wednesday, November 20 that they had found Mr Jackson’s car in a quarry. The day previously his wife, Alexia Jackson, made an emotional plea for help in finding him.

Police said today that Mr Jackson's body was discovered in woods at Housteads by a dog walker at 3.50pm on Sunday (December 1).

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and the Coroner has been informed of the death.

Assistant Chief Constable Dave Orford, of Durham Police, who is leading the inquiry, said: "Officers have been with Peter’s family since the moment he went missing and we would like to express our sincere sorrow now that we have confirmed he has been found."
