A CHARITY fun run to help save the lives of people suffering from heart conditions will take place this weekend.

There are still spaces available in this year’s British Heart Foundation Chase the Pud race in Richmond on Saturday, December 7 at 9am, and runners and walkers can complete either one, three or six miles from the start line at Richmond Swimming Pool.

Participants can take part dressed as Santa or in festive fancy dress and will be chasing a Christmas Pudding along the disused railway line.

There will be live music by Muker Silver Band, a raffle at the Station, and the Mayor of Richmond Councillor Bob White helping to judge the children’s festive fancy dress competition.

Maureen Gibbon, BHF Richmond and area committee chairwoman, said: “Richmond Chase the Pud is a fantastic, fun event to be part of and is a brilliant way to kick-start the Christmas festivities.

“Last year’s event was a big success, with more than 250 people taking part to raise more than £3,000 for heart research.

“Online registration is now closed and families and friends can now register this week at Richmond Swimming Pool or at the event. We look forward to welcoming everyone this weekend.” Entry is £10 for adults and over 14s. Children under 14 can enter for free if in fancy dress and accompanied by a paying adult. All money raised from the event will help to fund the BHF’s life-saving research.
