Children from across Darlington will perform in the second annual St Cuthbert’s Carols for Kids concert on Wednesday.

The event will see pupils from Gurney Pease, Heathfield, Mowden, Red Hall and Reid Street perform as a 150-strong community choir to celebrate Christmas whilst raising money for St Teresa’s Hospice and the church fund.

The concert runs from 5pm to 6pm and entry is free with donations gratefully accepted.

LIBRARY EVENTS: Darlington author Charlotte Jones will be at the Crown Street library ahead of an afternoon of festive-themed activities. Ms Jones will be in the library at 10.30am on Saturday to sign copies of her book, the Enchanted Grandfather’s Clock, on Saturday. Later, from 1pm to 3pm, Darlington Council’s family learning team will host free family fun with a reindeer trail, crafts and activities.

CAR CRASH: Motorists escaped serious injury following a head-on collision on the A68 between Heighington and Darlington road this morning (Monday, December 2). Police, paramedics and a fire crew rushed to the scene at around 9.30am but nobody was seriously injured and both cars were recovered within an hour.

SOCIAL FUN: A Christmas coffee morning for the 21st Darlington Scout Group is being held on Saturday at St Mark’s Church Hall, North Road. It runs from 10am to noon and there will be a raffle, tombola, meat draw and cake stall.
