A GUNMAN held up an travel agent before making off with £5,000 in cash.
Staff at the Darlington branch of Dawson and Sanderson, on Skinnergate, were confronted by an armed man at 10.40am today.
Police say the robber approached the Bureau de Change office, placed a small black handgun on the counter and demanded money.
He then made his escape with cash in Euros, Sterling and US Dollars.
Police are appealing for witnesses to call Darlington CID on 0845 6060 365 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
