A DELIVERY driver has appeared in court charged with the theft of almost £28,000 worth of clothes.
Stephen Kell, 57, of Windsor Terrace, Murton, County Durham, appeared at Consett Magistrates Court today. (Tuesday October 22) The offending allegedly took place between February 12 last year and March 15 this year.
It is said he stole the items at Chester-le-Street while working for All Saints Retail, which has a store in Newcastle.
Prosecuting, Paula Sanderson said: “This matter is too serious to be dealt with at this court.”
Magistrates have declined jurisdiction for the case and Mr Kell has been granted unconditional bail. He will next appear at Durham Crown Court on November 5.
Solicitor Laura Miller, representing Mr Kell, said: “No indications of pleas are being given at this stage.”
