Police give a warning in response to tweet threatening to kill Mowbray if team lost
A TEENAGER has received a warning after a threat was made to kill Middlesbrough FC manager Tony Mowbray on Twitter.
Cleveland Police said that a radio station in the South West had reported the potentially offensive tweet relating to Middlesbrough Football Club.
A police spokeswoman said: “Officers spoke to a local man in relation to the tweet and he assured us that it had been deleted.
He was given words of advice and the matter is now closed.”
The tweet allegedly threatened to kill the Boro manager if the team lost to Yeovil earlier this month.
A club spokesman said they had been aware of the tweet but had not involved police and were not pursuing the matter.
