Thousands flock to see model railways at Shildon railway museum
MORE than 3,500 rail enthusiasts are estimated to have visited a model railway exhibition held at a County Durham museum this weekend.
There were 20 layouts for visitors to enjoy at the annual Shildon Model Railway Club display held at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum in Shildon, County Durham.
David Walker from the club said: “It has gone very well, I don’t know exact numbers but I would guess we have had around 3,500 people visit over the course of the weekend.
“The members worked really hard to pull this all together and the museum have been an excellent support.”
There were also 20 traders and six specialist displays at the exhibition.
The Shildon Model Railway Club is currently looking for a new base, anyone who can help is asked to contact them via their website at shildonmrc.com.
