County Durham fire crews tackle allotment blazes

FIRE crews in County Durham were called to a series of blazes tonight involving allotments and a derelict building.
In Ferryhill, a fire broke out on allotments at Davy Street at 10.45pm.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said its control room took 19 duplicate calls to the incident.
Two fire crews were sent to the scene, and used breathing apparatus and jets of water to tackle the blaze, which affected several allotments.
Earlier, crews attended a fire on allotments near Luke Terrace in Wheatley Hill.
Five sheds and a stable were damaged by the fire at 8.45pm.
In Bishop Auckland, a fire was reported in a three-storey derelict building on Salisbury Place at 8.49pm.
Two crews from Bishop Auckland attended, and extinguished a small fire on the first storey.
