Further arrests in John Hall murder probe

POLICE investigating the murder of father-of-two John Hall have arrested four more men.
The men, two aged 22 and two aged 27, were seized earlier today (Tuesday, October 10) on suspicion of assisting an offender.
They are currently in custody helping Northumbria police detectives with their enquiries.
Mr Hall, 46, of Burn Road, Shiney Row, Sunderland, was found dead in a lane at West Rainton, near Durham City, on Sunday September 15. He had suffered multiple injuries.
Nicholas Rought, 45, of Princes Street, Shiney Row, and Stuart Smith, of no fixed abode, have been charged with Mr Hall’s murder.
They are remanded in custody and are due to appear again at Newcastle Crown Court on December 10.
Paul Tate, 49, of Cambridge Terrace, Silksworth, Sunderland, was also charged with murder.
But he was found dead in his cell at Holme House Prison, Stockton, on Friday, September 27, days after he had been remanded in custody.
Prison authorities are investigating his death and his funeral is due to take place tomorrow (Wednesday, October 9) at Sunderland Crematorium at 11.30am.
The funeral of Mr Hall, who was known as Jonty, will be held at All Saints’ Church, Penshaw, on Friday (October 11) at 10.30am and will be followed by cremation at Sunderland.
