Barnard Castle Prep School holds Harvest celebration
FOOD banks in south Durham will benefit from donations to a Teesdale school’s Harvest Festival.
Staff, pupils and their parents attended Barnard Castle Prep School’s Harvest service yesterday (Monday), led by the Reverend Dr Stephen Ridley.
All non-perishable food donations will be distributed between various food banks throughout Teesdale, Cockfield and Evenwood, while perishable food will be donated to the 700 Club, in Darlington, which provides temporary accommodation and support services to vulnerable people.
A collection for Christian Aid’s Syrian Crisis Appeal raised more than £200.
Youngsters also designed harvest-themed cards for members of the community who are affiliated with the school.
Headmaster, Carl Rycroft, said: “Harvest Festival is a good opportunity for the school to help and support the local community.
“It also recognises the pupils we have here who are representative of rural life in Teesdale.”
