Eight-year-old airlifted to hospital; condition critical
AN EIGHT-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening head injuries after being hit by a car.
The boy was hit by the car on Irvine Road, Hartlepool just after 12.20pm on Sunday.
Paramedics called the Great North Air Ambulance, who gave the boy anaesthetic at the scene before flying him to James Cook University Hospital where he was sent to a specialist unit for treatment.
His condition on arrival at hospital was said to be critical.
