Book about two turbulent years at Darlington FC released
A HOST of Darlington Football Club heroes last night (Thursday) attended the launch of a book which chronicles the turbulent past two years of the Quakers.
Chris Senior, Jamie Chandler, David Hodgson and Martin Gray were among those at the Dolphin Centre, Darlington, as In the Dying Seconds went on sale.
Senior is fondly remembered by fans for scoring a last-minute winner in the FA Trophy final at Wembley two years ago.
He and Chandler - man of the match at Wembley - made a sentimental return to the town for the launch of the 224-page book, written by Ray Simpson.
He has collated memories and pictures from many people connected to Quakers, such as supporters, players and officials, following two years that included winning the Trophy, endure administration, rescued by supporters and then win the Northern League title.
Other special guests included ex-manager Hodgson, former kit man and groundsman Andrew Thompson, current boss Gray, and club skipper Gary Brown.
The launch was held two days before Quakers, who are top of the Evo-Stik First Division after winning 7-0 against Ossett Albion on Wednesday, travel to Ossett Town in the first qualifying round of this year's FA Trophy competition.
