WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: The next meeting of the Helmington Row Women’s Institute will take place on Monday, October 7, at 7pm. There will be a harvest stall auction and pie and pea supper to mark the 65th birthday of the organisation. Admission is £3.
IRISH SINGER: Ann Breen will be performing at Helme Park Hotel, near Crook, on Thursday, October 3, at 7pm. Tickets cost £8 and are available by calling 01388-762634 or 07880-508049.
COFFEE FUNDS: A coffee morning at St Andrew’s Dawson St Methodist/URC Church, Crook, last week raised £417 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Another coffee morning, organised by Sophie Cockburn, also raised £276 for the same charity.
