43-year-old driver who died after falling ill at the wheel in Newcastle is named

A 43-year-old man who died after being taken ill while at the wheel of a car has been named today.
Police were alerted at 12.30am on Saturday, September 28, after a black Vauxhall Corsa travelling on Woodbrook Avenue in Slateyford, Newcastle, hit a parked Ford Focus.
The driver of the Corsa, who had fallen ill at the wheel, was Gary Cann, 43, of Abercrombie Place, Blakelaw, Newcastle.
He was taken to hospital by ambulance staff but was pronounced dead.
The road was closed for around two hours to allow for police investigations to take place.
Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191.
