Salute our Heroes concert returns to Sedgefield
VISITORS to a North-East racecourse are being invited to show their support for Britain’s brave armed forces.
The annual Salute our Heroes Raceday returns to Sedgefield Racecourse in County Durham for the fourth time on Tuesday, October 1, and will raise funds for ABF The Soldiers Charity and the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA).
The event, which starts at 2.20pm, will feature seven races and spectators can enjoy a fanfare by the Royal Guards after each winning race.
A military vehicle display will be on site and guests will get the chance to try on army equipment.
Musical entertainment will also be provided by Autism4Heroes a fundraising band made up of 22 students from Sunderland’s Educational Services for People with Autism College and Andy Reid, an inspirational ex soldier, fundraiser and author.
Jill Williamson, general manager at Sedgefield Racecourse said she was delighted the raceday is returning for a fourth year.
“I am very proud that the racecourse has raised over £50,000 for the armed forces charities over the last few years by taking part in sponsored activities and hosting fundraising events, including concerts and the Miss Durham contest and we will continue to show our support,” she added.
The Salute our Heroes hospitality package costs £75, including a donation to the charity.
A pie and peas admission package is also available priced at £15.
