New owners for Hall Garth Hotel and Country Club near Darlington
A NORTH-EAST hotel has undergone a change of ownership, with the new bosses pledging to invest significantly in facilities.
Hall Garth Hotel and Country Club, on the outskirts of Darlington, was taken over by North of England Estates Ltd earlier this month.
The company, which owns the Bells Hotel and Forest of Dean Golf Course, in Gloucestershire, is experienced in the golfing sector and has plans to revamp the nine-hole course at Hall Garth.
Chairman Clive McKeag said: “We have exciting plans to invest significantly in the hotel, including a complete refurbishment by an interior designer, of all areas of the hotel; plans to transform the Stables pub to the thriving place it used to be, with good homemade locally-sourced food.
“The Wine Glass restaurant will be re-decorated to reflect the high standard of fine dining the hotel currently enjoys.
“The extensive banqueting and wedding suites will be tastefully updated to enhance guest experience.
“Finally, we have plans to totally rejuvenate the golf course, and upgrade the leisure and beauty facilities.”
Mr McKeag added: “Pam Mooney will be remaining as general manager.
“Together with her experienced team, she will ensure the transition into new ownership will be smooth and the hotel will continue to grow from strength to strength.”
