A CHARITY that lends specialist items to people with learning difficulties raised more than £2,000 when it held its first major fundraising event in 20 years.
The Learning Library was set up in Spennymoor, County Durham, in 1986, and now has branches in Wheatley Hill and Durham and around 800 members.
On Friday, September 20 it held A Grand Night Out fundraising event at Spennymoor Town Hall.
More than 100 people enjoyed the night and ticket sales, donations and an auction raised £2,340 for the charity.
Organisers thanked everyone who attended or donated raffle prizes and auction lots, George Courtney, Graham Sheldon and Ian Fraser for providing the entertainment and volunteers, supporters and staff who gave their time to make it a success.
Manager Sheila Harris said: “All proceeds will go towards the provision and continuation of the Learning Library's service which helps children and adults with learning disabilities.”
