Thief steals bike as cyclist lay injured in street

A cyclist who was badly injured in a hit and run had his bike stolen while he was being treated by paramedics.
The 27-year-old man was making his way along Ayresome Street, Middlesbrough, when the collision occurred at the junction of Essex Street.
It is understood the vehicle, which made off after the collision at around 8.05pm on Thursday (SEPT 19), was a Skoda Octavia The cyclist suffered severe facial injuries and broken ribs in the smash.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Whilst paramedics treated the man at the scene, his pedal cycle was stolen.
"He was taken to James Cook University Hospital and detained.
"Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have information regarding the car involved or the stolen pedal cycle, are asked to contact PC Martin Tranmer of the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency 101 number, quoting reference number 166830."
