West rainton murder - two released

Two of the five men arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of a man found in a country lane have been bailed.
John Anthony Hall's body was discovered in the West Rainton area of Durham on Sunday, September 15, at approximately 7pm.
The 46-year-old had been reported missing to Northumbria Police from his home in Burn Terrace, Shiney Row, on Monday, September 16.
Two men aged 43 and 32 arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed pending further enquiries. Three men aged 48, 45 and 34 also arrested on suspicion of murder, remain in custody helping police their with enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Christina Barrett, of Northumbria Police, who is leading the enquiry, said: "We are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
"In particular, we are keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard suspicious activity in the area where Mr Hall's body was found at Mark's Lane, near to the railway bridge, on Sunday evening.
"And at the area of Mill Terrace, including the rear lane, we are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious between Saturday evening and Tuesday evening.
"We are continuing to work closely with Durham Constabulary building on the joint work carried out to date. I'd also like to reiterate that we do not believe Mr Hall was the victim of a random attack and that those involved are known to each other."
Additional patrols continue to take place in the area to reassure residents.
