12:16pm Sunday 15th September 2013 in News
THERE was lots of fun for all the family at Stockton Fire Station’s annual open day today (Sunday).
The station threw open its doors for three hours for the free event which included activities and demonstrations as well as advice on how to stay safe and lifesaving techniques.
Firefighters showed how they free motorists following a road traffic collision, demonstrated the dangers of chip pan fires and visitors were able to sit in a fire engine.
Watch Manager Davey Veitch, one of the event organisers, said: “This was a great opportunity for people to find out about the vast amount of work which the firefighters do to keep the community safe and they can learn more about how they can protect themselves against the risk of fire.”
There was also an opportunity for people to buy items to support The Fire Fighters’ Charity and there was also stands for the Butterwick Hospice and Daisy Chain.
