Man appears in court over Berwick Hills death
THE trial of a 20-year-old accused of murdering another man in Middlesbrough is likely to be held next year.
James Murphy appeared for a brief hearing at Teesside Crown Court yesterday following the death of Lucas Bishop.
Mr Bishop, also aged 20, was found on a road near Ellerby Green in the Berwick Hills area on Sunday morning.
He was taken to the nearby James Cook University Hospital, but later died. Cleveland Police said he had been stabbed.
Mr Murphy, of Westerdale Road, Middlesbrough, spoke only to confirm his name during the ten-minute hearing.
He was dressed in a light blue t-shirt and grey jogging bottoms.
The Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Simon Bourne-Arton, QC, remanded him in custody until November 21.
Mr Murphy will face a plea and case management hearing on that date, and a trial has been pencilled in for March.
