Showjumping star Harry from Stockton's latest success
A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy is wowing judges in national show jumping competitions.
Last week Harry Wood, of Bishopton, between Darlington and Stockton, came second in the Scope Show Jumping Festival in Staffordshire.
That means he has qualified for the prestigious Olympia Festival later this year and the young horseman has already qualified for the internationally famous Horse of the Year Show in Birmingham next month.
Harry’s mother, Victoria, a horse riding instructor, explained he was first put on a horse as a baby and has been riding since he was four years old.
“It’s not just show-jumping that interests him,” she explained. “He really wants to race-ride horses and already does cross country and takes part in the Cleveland drag hunt.”
Mrs Wood explained her husband, Harry’s father, is a horse farrier and she thanked Harry’s traine, former international show-jumper Joanne Tanfield of Thornaby.
