Police reveal more details of stabbed solicitor's final moments
MORE details have emerged of a North-East solicitor’s last moments before he was stabbed to death.
Police say before Peter Maine went jogging along the River Wear, in Durham City, on Sunday morning, he parked his car outside his old offices on Old Elvet and carried some furniture into the premises, which are now student flats.
He then moved the Range Rover to a parking bay and set out for his final run.
A cyclist found the 56-year-old father-of-two near Maiden Castle sports ground about half an hour later, at 8am, having suffered three stab wounds to the chest.
Police are treating the death and suspicious and unexplained and keeping an open mind as to how he died.
It has also emerged that the night before his death Mr Maine, of Wynyard, near Stockton, and his wife Joanna were out for a meal with friends at a restaurant in Yarm.
Anyone with information on Mr Maine’s death is asked to call Durham Police on 101.
